Our Camp & Local Activities
Our camp offers a variety of levels to choose from- Maiden/Intro thru Preliminary. Camp is geared toward the horse and rider who want to master their current level or are ready to move up a level. This is also a great opportunity to bring along a new riding partner to get one on one training that will ensure a fun and lasting relationship with your horse. Even if you have never competed before or are a newcomer to the sport our camp is a wonderful place to come, learn and ride!
There's plenty of fun and action here!
Twice daily you will train with top level instructors. In addition to riding there will be seminars and some free time to relax and enjoy historic downtown Southern Pines and Pinehurst.
Dressage lessons are private and jumping lessons are held in pairs at several different training facilities in the neighborhood. At our camp everything is provided for you and your horse (except hay and grain). Housing will be located at our wonderful neighborhood barn B&B's (Bed & Board). Horses will be stabled in permanant barns located within a few minutes hack from instruction sites. Lunch and dinners are catered at the Dreher's house by a local gourmet, Ashten's A Field.
Plan to arrive at camp on Saturday, April 16th in order to settle your horse in and learn your way around the neighborhood. There will be dinner and an orientation meeting on Saturday evening at the Dreher's home. Departure will be on Saturday April 23rd, unless previous arrangements have been made. Lessons will commence on Sunday April 17th and conclude on Friday April 22nd. There will be three days of single lessons and three days of double lessons. Please make sure you and your horse are fit for that schedule.
If you are interested in competing, Longleaf Pine Horse Trials is held on April 23rd and 24th, at the Carolina Horse Park and is only a 30 min trailer ride away. LLPHT offers Beg. Novice thru Preliminary and camp is a great prep! Please let us know if you are interested in staying for Longleaf Pine Horse Trials. Please visit the Carolina Horse Park website for more info.
We also have other activities in the area to enjoy. The Southern Pines/Pinehurst area is home to more than 60 golf courses, so you can golf 'til you drop. Seagrove, NC- home of the pottery festival has over 90 local potters. Historic Wilmington NC is only a day trip away as well.
